Om een nog grotere thermische stabiliteit en weerstand tegen oplosmiddelen te bieden, werden in 1959 tetrafluorethyleen (TFE) bevattende fluorelastomeerterpolymeren ge\u00efntroduceerd. De nieuwste FKM-polymeren hebben een veel breder vloeistofweerstandsprofiel dan standaard fluorelastomeren en zijn bestand tegen sterke basen en ketonen, evenals aromatische koolwaterstoffen, oli\u00ebn, zuren en stoom. In 1975 werd een nieuwe familie van fluorelastomeer ge\u00efntroduceerd door Asahi Glass Co., FEPM, op basis van een alternerend copolymeer van TFE en propyleen. Het wordt verkocht onder de handelsnaam AFLAS\u00ae.<\/p>\n<p>FPM is de internationale afkorting volgens DIN\/ISO, terwijl FKM de korte vorm is voor de categorie fluorelastomeer volgens de Amerikaanse standaard ASTM. Viton\u00ae is het gedeponeerde handelsmerk van Chemours, evenals Tecnoflon\u00ae voor Solvay Specialty Polymers, Dyneon\u2122 voor 3M Dyneon en DAI-EL\u2122 voor polymeren die worden geleverd door Daikin. Op deze website gebruiken we de afkorting
