Polycomp offers a range of compounds based on various HNBR, FKM and FFKM types.
The extraction and exploitation of oil and gas takes place under increasingly difficult circumstances. Polycomp compounds are specifically developed for the oil and gas industry and the most demanding specifications (explosive decompression, extreme temperatures, high chemical resistance), and meet international standards such as NORSOK, TOTAL and NACE. With these compounds our customers produce amongst others seals and seats for valves.
A rapid pressure drop (Rapid Gas Decompression = RGD) in a high pressure gas containing environment changes the equilibrium between gas dissolved in a seal and the external gas concentration. Gas dissolved in a seal through permeation seeks to come out and expand. If the compound is not able to withstand these diffusion processes and the forces caused, blistering or rupturing of the elastomer part can occur. Therefore, proper compounding is needed to give resistance against RGD events. Besides RGD events, oil and gas applications elastomer and compound selection shall be based on evaluation of compatibility with the environment the seal is exposed to (chemicals, temperature).
Polycomp is offering a range of compounds based in various HNBR, FKM and FFKM types that e.g. meet the Norsok M-710 and/or ISO 23936-2 requirements. Moreover, for specific applications solutions in FVMQ or NBR can be offered as well. The compound hardness ranges from 75 to 90 Shore A and cover temperatures from -40°C to +300°C.
